The largest regional event, West-Ukrainian Legal Forum, which already gathering for the ninth time the leaders of the legal market was held in Lviv on28-29th March, 2019.
The first day of the forum was devoted to discussion of two key topics: interaction and overcoming the divide between law education and practical activities of the lawyer and the investment climate of the country’s legal market.
Board members of the Legal Assembly of the Ukrainian Bar Association, in particular, Roksolana Kostur, the Head of the UBA Branch in the Lviv region, spoke at the opening of the event.
“I am glad to see many friends and colleagues. I also see unfamiliar faces, it means that the forum increases its audience. There are a lot of topics for discussion, so the West-Ukrainian forum lasts for 2 days. I wish you not only fruitful work, but also good mood!”- Ms. Roksolana remarked.
The investment climate and current practices in resolving international commercial disputes were discussed at the second session, moderated by Serhiy Matviyiv, Managing Partner of Matviyiv and Partners.
Serhiy Matviyiv in figures has explained why there is a lot to be done by lawyers to support the investments in the Western region of Ukraine.
The second day of the event began not with coffee and gave a good mood for the whole day.
The first session of the second day was devoted to the procedural codes and the results of the movement, and moderated by Roksolana Kostur and Dovidas Vitkauskas, the head of the EU project “Pravo-Justice”.
“Not so long ago we are working on new Civil and Commercial Procedural Codes of Ukraine. During this time, those who were involved in the process and made certain conclusions for themselves”, – Ms. Roksolana began.
Oleh Kachmar, Andriy Kravchuk, Roman Chumak and Viktoriya Buchkivska talked about deliberately unfounded disqualifications, reaffirming the authority of the lawyer for representation in court proceedings, discretionary powers of the court in administrative jurisdiction, admissibility of evidence and the first results of monitoring the implementation of the Civil and Commercial Procedural Codes.
Moving away from the official part of the event, we want to say that Matviyiv & Partners does not throw words to the wind. One hundred participants of the 9th West-Ukrainian Legal Forum were in a great mood, because they were lavishing in Lviv.
