We sincerely congratulate our lawyer, a graduate of the UCU Law School, Ivan Yavnych, with the successful defense of the master’s thesis!

We wish Ivan inspiration and endless energy for further success in professional activity!

A graduate of the UCU LL.M. Program shared his experiences with the program and spoke about the environment of opportunities, thinking outside the box, and a professional future in the field of law.

Enter or not enter

Many factors influenced me, when I chose the university to continue my studies. The LL.M. Program in Human Rights is a courageous project that has many advantages and is significantly different from all other programs in this area. Before entering, I analyzed the curriculum and realized that there is high quality education and contents of the courses.

Another important factor is the atmosphere that dominates the UCU.

I have been here before in various programs and seminars. Therefore, having learned about the opportunity to study, I realized that my choice would be correct.

Knowledge and skills that will be needed in professional life

To begin with, study was not easy and required considerable effort and concentration, but each professor and lecturer tried to convey the knowledge and skills that are of practical value and will be needed in future professional life.

Every student in this master’s program will find what he / she likes: international public law, international criminal law, case law of the European Court of Human Rights, the taxation system in Ukraine (and much more). The range of skills offered is broad enough. Also, the skills of public speaking, which we practiced in the course on Public Communications, are very valuable.

The universal skill encouraged by every professor and lecturer was to think freely, outside the box and be able to express their opinion.

About unique courses and lectures

Each course taught in the program was interesting and unique in its content and presentation. Personally, courses related to case law of the European Court of Human Rights and Andriy Hrynchuk’s course on taxation in Ukraine were the most practical and most necessary for future professional activities.

Among all the courses, the most remembering one was by Mykola Gnatovsky about freedom from Torture  and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, as well as Andriy Kostiuk’s lectures on the course «Theory and History of Human Rights».

About opportunities, which do not need be «chased».

For anyone who wants to be competitive in the legal market, I advise you to join this program. From experience I know that all the possibilities for your professional and personal development are created here. If at the other universities you need to «chase» the opportunities, then at this master’s program everything is vice versa. Here you only need to be able to use them properly 🙂
