From May 26 to May 27, 2016, the 6th West-Ukrainian Legal Forum of the Ukrainian Bar Association was held in Lviv; its active member and general partner was the «Matviyiv and Partners».
The event was opened by Serhiy Matviyiv, the Managing Partner of the «Matviyiv and Partners», Head of the Lviv branch of The Ukrainian Bar Association. In addition, Roksolana Kostur, the partner of the «Matviyiv and Partners», was a moderator of the second session of the panel discussion on «Reform of the judicial system and assuring effective administration of justice», the issues of transformation of which are so acute today.
Along with this, the following topics for discussion were of great interest to the community of lawyers:
- Where does corruption begin? Corrupt because poor, or poor because corrupt?
- A man serves a state or a state serves a man? Who can stop the corruption whirlwind?
- The legal education reform: transition to the comprehensive Mastership program or preserving the existing system?
- Constitutional reform: expectations and realities.
- Bar reform.
- Innovation in the field of taxation.
- International public law and private business.
- New strategies of a law firm.
Due to the support of the general partner, the «Matviyiv and Partners», the Legal Forum gave the lawyers, both of the western region and the whole country, a unique opportunity not only to share their own experience, but also to discuss legal reforms that are so essential for Ukraine upon its way towards the European integration.
